Reconstruction of Surgical Hospital Block

The reconstruction of the 2,900 sqm surgical block of the Kaposi Mór Hospital was the second phase of a three step plan to reinforce the structure and improve the facilities of the Kaposi Mor Hospital in Kaposvár, Hungary. The process posed considerable logistical challenges, as the operation of the hospital could not be suspended during construction. Using the latest 3D, BIM-design methodology plans could have been prepared more accurately and 3D models allowed an easier understanding of the design intent for the client. Hospitals are usually intensive in technology and HVAC equipment, which requires accurate and high quality design.
