Updating the BIM Models of the Three Main Buildings of the M+ Museum Complex for Hsin Chong

Hsin Chong commissioned our firm to assist in updating all architectural, structural, and MEP BIM models of the three main buildings of the M+ Museum complex due to the tight project timeline.

The HKD 4.7 billion M+ Museum resulted from an international design competition held in 2013, which was jointly won by Herzog & de Meuron, TFP Farrell, and Arup. M+ is a new museum of 20th- and 21st-century art and visual culture located in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCDA). The project is highly ambitious, aiming to create a museum of comparable physical scale to the world’s leading visual culture institutions, aspiring over time to achieve an international status akin to MoMA in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, or Tate Modern in London. The museum’s objective is to become an institution rooted in the site and the unique culture of the city, and shaped by them.

To facilitate communication and information flow, we deployed staff to the site in Hong Kong, while two additional teams worked from our Hong Kong and Budapest offices. The work was not only highly complex but also constrained by an aggressive construction schedule, requiring us to operate efficiently and strategically to meet the prescribed program.
