Design competition: cultural centre and library in Kiskőrös

The current centre of cultural life of Kiskőrös and its surroundings has outgrown itself. In line with the town's development plans, some of our architects created a design of a new cultural center and library complex within a competition.

With its vision for a new cultural centre and cibrary, the Issuer aims to promote cultural life in Kiskőrös and the surrounding area, while also creating infrastructure that meets today’s needs.

Our goal is to create a new, separate cultural centre and city library building complex by rethinking the areas created by the demolition of the existing Cultural Centre and the former party headquarters, and by redistributing the necessary functions. We also aim to integrate the new urban space enclosed by the buildings into the complex on the main square.

Our primary intention is to create an urban environment that is worthy of Petőfi’s birthplace and that serves the current needs of the city’s numerous cultural, civic, sporting, dance, recreational, age-based and hobby groups. We also aim to strengthen Petőfi’s birth house and to emphasise its role in the life of the city through value-adding developments.

Our principal architectural concept is to fulfil complex and diverse functions while presenting a unified image that blends into the civic environment. It draws on tradition yet is expressed in a contemporary architectural language. The aim is to serve as a catalyst for strengthening community cohesion and identity.
